Rides & Attractions With Lower Wait Times in Magic Kingdom

When I talk to a lot of people about Disney, they often ask “how do you deal with those lines? You pay all that money to stand in line”. Disney (and any trip for that matter) is what you make of it. Sure, a lot of your most popular rides are  going to have lengthy wait times, but that’s what you can save your Fast Passes for!

There are plenty of things to do in Walt  Disney World that don’t require waiting in a line, if that’s not your thing. You can eat, watch shows, shop, enjoy the scenery, or check out some of these rides and attractions below that have generally lower wait times than other attractions!

 

1 – Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor – At some point on your trip, this is a must-do. This is a lot of fun for all ages, especially if your “that guy”, don’t get the joke? Better go check out the Laugh floor then! Mike Wazowski hosts a stand-up comedy show to gain as much laughter as he can by the end of the show to power Monstropolis. You even can text in your own jokes!

2 – The People Mover – Okay, so I’m completely biased on this one. I absolutely love the People Mover. When you are on your feet all day, running around the Kingdom, it feels nice to sit back and relax for a few minutes, but its even better being driven around Tomorrowland in the People Mover getting a good view of the castle, and even getting to see people flying around in Space on Space Mountain! Make sure to try this ride in the day time, and again at night time to see the castle and everything lit up! It is really beautiful.

3 – Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid – So I’ll start with the fact that this one could be busier during peak times. But most of the time it is a very quick moving line. I don’t care how old you are, dive under the sea with Ariel and Sebastien and friends, and enjoy because “life is the bubbles!” This is a new addition to Fantasyland and little ones and adults can enjoy alike, it’s bright and colorful, and you can’t help but sing along!

4 – Philharmagic – Unpopular opinion, I thoroughly enjoy Philharmagic.  I know that it’s quite dated now, but I love seeing all our favorite characters on the same screen together. Who doesn’t want to watch Donald chase around Mickey’s sorcerer hat all through our favorite movies? This is another nice attraction with a low wait time, where you can get off your feet for a few minutes, and enjoy a short 4D movie and cool off in some air conditioning. You’ll be hungry when you are leaving after smelling Lumiere’s apple pie!

5 – Liberty Belle Riverboat – On a sunny afternoon, who wouldn’t want a relaxing sail on the Liberty Square Riverboat? Located in Liberty Square close to the Haunted Mansion, there is a large beautiful river boat, that you can get on and enjoy a seventeen minute sail through historic America. Make sure to wave to all of the people exploring Tom Sawyer Island as you pass by!

6 – Prince Charming’s Regal Carousel – Yes, this is a merry-go-round, but before ignoring, just remember this is a fun photo opportunity! The carousel is gorgeous, plays Disney music, and you should definitely get a photo of your child on it. It’s one a the few Walt Disney World opening day attractions left, and usually has about a five minute wait time.

7 – Walt Disney Railroad – You are in Walt Disney World, so you definitely have to go on the train, that was one of Walt’s biggest passions. He loved trains so much, that his parks had to have one as well. This is another nice, relaxing way to sit down for a bit, while still being entertained. Another historic attraction, the Walt Disney Railroad also opened on opening day in 1971 and is still enjoyed by many. If you don’t want to enjoy the entire 20 minute ride, you can even use it as a method of transportation through the park. It has stops at the front entrance at Main Street U.S.A, as well as one in Frontierland and in Fantasyland!

8 – Mad Tea Party – Well, I’m going to admit it. I have never been on this ride. The famous Disney classic that it is, I simply can’t do it. Even looking at this ride I get dizzy, so I don’t chance how I’ll feel after going on the ride. For those of you who want to spin around in a tea cup, in an even bigger circle as many times as you can, this is the place for you! The line moves pretty quickly as the ride itself isn’t very long (probably a good thing!) I will be the photographer during this ride…until it starts spinning…then see you later!

9 – Enchanted Tiki Room – Oh the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room, oh the Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room, you’ll probably do this once in all of your trips, but give it a try it’s a classic! Much like “It’s a Small World”, this repetitive song will be stuck in your head for hours. If you’ve already enjoyed this experience, you’re welcome because I know this song is now in your head.

10 – Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – I saved this one for last, because its special for us Disney nerd. This experience is located in Tomorrowland and was created by Walt Disney himself. This is a 360 degree rotating theatre that showcases an American family and the progress of technology from the turn of the century to the future. Walt Disney presented this attraction in the 1964 New York World Fair (moved to Walt Disney World in 1975). Walt Disney was especially fond of this attraction, and the idea to “keep moving forward”. Make sure to sit back, relax and check out his pride and joy. When you leave this one, you’ll have a new song in your head to replace the Tiki Room and It’s a  Small World. You’ll be singing “It’s a great big, beautiful tomorrow, Shining at the end of every day!”

See, there are lots of rides and attractions you can enjoy with a lower wait time. Don’t forget to also check out the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse (which you can walk right on), Aladdin’s Flying Carpets, Tom Sawyer Island, The Country Bear Jamboree, and the Hall of Presidents. I would have added “It’s a Small World” and “The Many Adventurers of Winnie the Pooh”, but they can sometimes get up to thirty minutes when it’s busy, but they still wouldn’t be Fast Pass worthy!
